Police Move TRAFFITECH-GH Full Rollout to 1 November: What Changes for Drivers?

Drivers have another month before the Ghana Police Service’s planned full rollout of TRAFFITECH-GH. In a press release dated Tuesday, 29 September 2026, the Police said full implementation of the automated traffic law enforcement programme has been rescheduled from 1 October to 1 November 2026.

The change affects the full implementation date announced earlier this month. The Police did not say that existing road traffic laws had been suspended, or that motorists may disregard speed limits, signals and other road rules during October.

Why did the Police change the date?

According to the release from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, the additional time is intended for more extensive public awareness and education. The planned information covers how the programme operates, which traffic offences it detects and how Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be issued to offending motorists.

The Police urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the extra period to familiarise themselves with the system ahead of the new rollout date. The notice does not set out a different fine schedule, cancel existing traffic offences or specify a new timetable for individual camera locations.

What should vehicle owners do now?

Check the registration details and mobile number associated with your vehicle, know the traffic rules that apply to your journeys and use official Police channels to verify any notice you receive. The Police TRAFFITECH-GH information page describes Electronic Notices of Violation and the programme’s process. An extra month for public education is not permission to drive unsafely.
